A group of over 150 students from Nanyang Polytechnic enjoyed a rare opportunity last month to meet with digital illustrator Sandara Tang Sin Yung, senior lecturer at DigiPen Institute of Technology Singapore.

It was the second in a continuing series of Master Classes for polytechnic students.

Sandara wowed the crowd with her demonstration on speed painting and illustration techniques. She also answered several questions about her thought process as an artist, as well as how students can practice improving their own techniques and styles.

Many students who attended were longtime followers of Sandara’s work and were thrilled for the chance to speak with her in person after the lecture. Sandara even rewarded the students with autographs and small sketches of their favorite characters.

“It was a very exciting experience as it was great to see so many young people interested in digital painting,” Sandara said. “The students were attentive and asked many questions. They were a lively audience.”

Sandara’s illustrations have appeared on several card games, including Warhammer: Invasion and Legend of the Cryptids. You can follow her work on sandara.deviantart.com.
